I hope that FIA when reconsidering whether to allow the "diffusers" on
the likes of Brawns cars take into account the reason for the new rule
in regard to the redesign of the rear wing. Their stated purpose for
the new style rear wing was to minimise the bad air effect flowing off
the rear of the car and thus allow a following car to get much closer
and consequently improve overtaking opportunities.
Right, .. so to my mind the FIA need to consider the data from all the
teams in regard to the "air effect" coming off the rear of the cars.
And should the "air effect" from the cars with the diffusers be the
same or less than the non-diffuser teams then the "diffuser" should be
allowed legal. But of course if the diffuser cars "air effect" is
worse than the non-diffuser cars - then it should be deemed illegal.
Any other thoughts anyone?
Grandad.
