Unless the regulations state that your "air effect" must be less than X, and
for the diffuser cars it is not, then I cannot see how you can deem them
illegal on this basis.
Exploiting a loop hole should be legal, even if it is not in the spirit of
the rules.
If the FIA now see fit to change the regulations and close the loop hole,
making the diffusers illegal going forward, then sobeit, but that should not
effect past results.
My prediction is that the diffusers will be allowed, and that the other
teams will copy them (if they are really an advantage). To change the
regulations during the season would be farcical.
I thought WIlliams' protest against Ferrari etc was brilliant! Oh, but
wait, we acknowledge that there could be different interpretations of the
regulations in that area, so we'll withdraw our protest. I wonder how many
other grey areas other teams have tried to exploit in other areas.
